If you have a sleepless night once in a while but for some people, sleeplessness is habitual and they walk around half asleep, groggy or just miserable. Without enough sleep we feel lousy, function poorly and can’t enjoy what life has to offer. There are several things that can be done to help insomniacs get back into the habit of sleeping well.

1. Avoid stimulants like caffeine (found in cola, tea and chocolate) and excessive sugar. Certain medications like sinus pills and diet pills speed up the metabolism and can keep you awake long after they’re taken. Check with your doctor or pharmacist about any prescription drugs you are taking as there are many that can interfere with sleep.
